Willie Mays

Willie Mays, The Say Hey Kid. With his 660 homeruns and 3283 hits, he is one of only 4 players to have 3000 career hits and 500 homeruns. In the 1954 World Series Mays made one of the greatest catches of all time on a ball hit by Vic Wertz at the Polo Grounds in which you can see him making above. Willie Mays was one of the greatest all around players as he could get the job done in the field as well as at bat. His speed was amazing as well. Joe DiMaggio said Mays had the greatest throwing arm in baseball. Mays' 7095 putouts are the all-time record for an outfielder. He won the Gold Glove Award 12 times. He was voted Most Valuable Player in the National League in both 1954 and 1965. For eight years running, he drove in more than 100 runs a year. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. Many considers Willie Mays to be the greatest living ball player.
