Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player ever to play the game. When you think of hockey the first player to come to your mind is Wayne Gretzky. He holds almost every record in the book. Wayne Gretzky has more career assists than any other play has points. He has a record 894 career goals and 2857 points. In 1981-82 he had the best season any player has ever had, with a record 92 goals and 212 points. He later broke his own points record with 215 points in 1985-86. He scored an amazing 50 goals in his first 39 games. Going into the 39th game of the season hen needed 5 goals to get to 50, amazingly he came though with a 5 goal performance. He won 4 Stanley Cups. Gretzky came up in 1979 in the WHA as shown above in the photo of Greztky with Gordie Howe on the bench at the WHA All Star Game. The NHL is what it is today because of what Gretzky brought to the game.
